Soil
filtration lines are distinct lines of discoloration caused by fine particle
soils in the air and oily vapors being drawn through the nap of carpet and
other fabrics. The source of these soils can be exhaust emissions from
automobiles, coal or wood burning heaters, candles, fireplaces, cigarette
smoke, volatilized cooking oils, decomposition of organic materials, carbon
particles escaping through the filter of heating/cooling systems, and
various light weight particulate matter.
